Missed School Today

I missed school today, unfortunately - but I just didn't have the energy or motivation to get out of the door this morning. AND I woke up too late. I guess I still have a bit of depression in me... I've been a little sad today - but it didn't stop me from thinking creative.
In my sadness I wound all my ribbons onto cardboard pieces, and it took about 4-5 hours, phew!!! I'll post some pictures of my organized stuff when I feel done (which I suppose I'll never be, hehe).

Yesterday I made a hat, while watching movies, it was rather nice. I'll post a picture as well, when I have taken one.

And this evening I've been working on the construction of a dress for my boss (who has ordered a dress with me, yay). She's coming over tomorrow to see if she likes it, and to fit it - and then we're going shopping for fabrics. :) I'll definitely post a picture of the finished dress, when I'm done! I'm pretty excited about this dress.

I've started to search for other creative blogs, and it's awesomely inspiring! Hopefully I'll be as inspiring as well one day. There are so many creative people out there, and so many things one can create, wow! I'd like to live longer, so I might be able to learn just a tiny part of everything.. *sigh*.

Anyway - I'm feeling better now that it's evening, but I'm quite tired, so I'll be off to bed for now. I'll write some more tomorrow and post some pictures.

Sleep tight! <3

Coco Avant Chanel

I have just watched Coco Avant Chanel, and I find it very inspiring.
I just love watching movies where you follow a character (fiction or non), who start off with nothing and just grows to be a successful person in whatever he or she finds interesting. I've always admired people who live their dream, and don't comprise their happiness for anything. That's exactly what I want to do (and I am trying). And I still do admire these people, and hopefully one day, I'll be one of them too. :)

I just learned that she was the woman who got women out of the corset - I am considering being the one who puts them back in! ;P I just love what the corset does to your waist, it's beautiful!

I'm definitely having my own fashion house one day. ;P

But today, I'm trying to relax some more, for tomorrow I have a busy day creating a pattern for a costumer of mine. :) So I'm now going to watch another movie and probably knit or sew something small.

Yesterday

Yesterday I had a date with my boyfriend, and we were not allowed to turn on our computers (because we've done that a lot lately ;P). It went pretty well - we were out in the city, got a cup of cocoa and window shopped a bit, but because of rain, we decided to go home a bit early. I read two chapters aloud from the first Harry Potter book (we're halfway though, yay), and "de-froze" our freezer, because of all the ice that was stuck inside - and we made a lot of food. :)

So generally I'd say it was a nice day without computers - but here I am, 7 o'clock in the morning, writing this. (I think I'm addicted to the internet, really..... )

Anyway - I don't have much to say for now, other than we've got a new tutorial up at BeMyGoth.com An Elegant Dice Bag - created by Bjarke - it's awesome.

Indie Jacket

I can't believe how much I'm getting done! Today I went to work, and said to myself that when I got home I should relax and read a book or watch a movie, but I went on looking in my pattern magazines and found a jacket I wanted to make, and I had some fabric that I could use, so I went on and began sewing.
And I've now got a new jacket.... *phew* - I wonder when I'll ever get to relax? Tomorrow perhaps.. ;P

Here's a couple of pictures of the jacket..

The front - it says Choko-late ;P

A lady and golden swirls on the back. :)

The details on the back. I must admit that I'm quite satisfied.
But I seriously need to relax soon!

I'll do that by sleeping now. It's getting late, and I have to get up early to go to school. :) Goodnight to you!

Indie Goth Skirt Tutorial

I did it. I made another tutorial for BeMyGoth.com. An Indie Goth Skirt as I like to call it. Only because of the fabric I guess. I used the same fabric as I used for my sweet coin purse. :) So now I can match myself, hehe.

If you want to see it, click the picture below:

(Can't seem to use the picture as a link, so go on and press the text link here above ;P)

I just love getting new clothes - it makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I know what I'll wear on Monday.

I Walked 9.15 km

That's 5.67 miles... :) It was a lovely walk, and as I can see outside, I got the best of the sun - it's getting cloudy.
Just wanted to tell you that. :)

Now I'm off to eat some food and figure out what to make...

Yaro Starak - One Of My Heroes In Blogging

I just thought I needed to add this to my posts, because, then I won't forget myself. ;P

Yaro has written a gazillion good articles about great blogging, so if you're new to blogging or just want some great advice, I recommend that you go visit his site at Entrepreneurs-Journey.com.

What I wanted to post here was one of his articles with advice about writing your blog, how to express the true you. I find it pretty important for me to do that as quickly as possible, so I can get a consistent flow over time, and not suddenly change my writing style and become a different person. Hopefully I'm not doing too bad now - at least I THINK I'm writing with my own voice - just need some writing practise to make it a bit more interesting. ;)

Anyway - here's the article:
Quote begins:

Bloggers: Are You Writing In Your True Voice?

I’ve been working with a private client recently to help with her blog (hello Pat from GolfGurls.com), and through our time together she reminded me of a common challenge many new bloggers face.

Perhaps this is not so much a mistake as an adjustment that needs to be made as you begin the process of establishing your blog identity.

Many bloggers start out by applying a frame to how they think about their blog. This frame affects your writing style, causing you to feel the need to project a certain image with your words. This is a false image placed on top of who you really are, often applied because you believe it necessary to ensure you come across as professional. You want to make the “right” impression.... "  Read More...

Quote ends...

I hope it's legal to put a short quote of his article in my own blog... well, it's done, and hopefully you'll get something out of it as well - he writes really well! ;P

Second Day Of My Blogging Life

I actually feel really inspired to keep this going. It feels like the right kind of blog to me. Hooray for that. :)

It's 10 am and I've just had a shower - I feel particularly well today, so hopefully my sickness is going away! I'm heading out for a long walk, because I haven't been walking since Wednesday *iiiik*! Usually I walk every day. Either to and fro school or just a walk near my home. Today'll be a long one, I think.

I'm just recharging the battery of my mp3-player, cause it's been a while, and I'd like to have music all the way. :)

I don't really have any plans today, but I'm thinking of creating things (again). I have an idea for a simple skirt with elastic band at the waist, so it should be really easy. And with ruffles at the bottom. I think I'll make one today - and perhaps make it a tutorial to put up on our BeMyGoth.com site. That would be nice, because then I wouldn't feel like I have wasted another day. :)

I've actually become better to not waste days, you know.
Often in 'my earlier life', I've felt that I've wasted a lot of time just doing nothing - like watching movies hours on end or just sitting at the internet, not really searching for anything or just being really really - how shall I say it - *Blagggrh*, I think is the best description. Days have just gone buy where I've sat and done nothing to improve my life whatsoever - but now I've become better at that.

I've had a couple of periods in my life where I've felt like I do now (self-improving), but this time it feels real, and really good. I've had a pretty big 'downtime' for about 8-9 months, and I've sought help now, and it just feels great to do something actively to help yourself.

I started writing in a diary as well, what I felt, and what I thought was the problems ,and then came up with solutions, and I try to live by that, you know. I'm learning from my mistakes - but I must say it's really difficult to change your thinking-patterns and your habits ,and that's where I'm going. *phew* - but it's wonderful, though. I like improving myself to be a better and happier person.

One day I'll be the happiest person alive, and I'll make things happen, when I want them to! :)

This is me on one of my former walking trips.

Creativity Whilst Sick

I am currently under the influence of a virus, so I have to stay home and drink a lot of tea, avoid getting cold and stuff, but I just can't seem to be still. I have a restless kind of nature if something tries to take my creativity away, such as an illness.
So I have made a lot of small things, that are not too complicated or exhausting (for an ill person). I found inspiration on other blogs with tutorials, so I'll just link to them. :)

This is a bowl made of 2 pieces of fabric and some interfacing. It was super easy and took no more than 15 minutes to make. Awesome if you're having a get together and don't have enough bowls for your sweets or cookies. ;P
Link to the tutorial at Poppy Lanes Blog Here.

Here's a mini purse made of paper - it's really cute, and you can use it for presents. :) I found it by searching paper boxes on google, but I don't remember where it was, so I'll just link to another site where you can fin the pattern. :) At Card Inspired By Maria Bell

I've always wanted to make one of these. Don't remember where I got the 'pattern', but it's real easy. Just ask me if you want me to show you how to do it. :)

Here's a little flower I made. It's the first thing I made yesterday, I think. Real easy and super cute. the tutorial is here at: Bayou Bags

And a more extravagant flower. it's just as easy, but takes a bit longer, because of the number of petal (16). I love it, and you can use it for anything! embellish your hair, your bag, you dress, your hat... anything. It's really really cute. Link to the tutorial site: Sew Itzy Titzy

This is so cute as well, but I think I put the buttons too close to each other. It's supposed to be a bowl of some sort, but it has a rather narrow opening, don't you think? Well, I think in this way, it would be perfect for earrings or rings or other jewellery. :)
Link to the tutorial at My Little Mochi

And at last - just for show, I'll show you a picture of what I've made the last two days. :)

I really enjoy creating cute and beautiful things. And as I mentioned before, some of them are not very goth, so they'll be reserved for this blog. :)

We've Got Two Lovely Cats!

I thought I just had to tell you of our little family. It consists of My boyfriend, Bjarke, me and two lovely cats called Bøf and Byld (it means Beef and Boil). We know, they are odd names, but they suit them really well. :) And they respond to their names, so we're all happy. Here's Bøf:

Isn't she cute? (she on catnip)

And Here we have our lovely Byld:

One of my first pictures of our cats with our new camera, which by the way is a Nikon D3000. It's really nice and user friendly, if you're new to digital SLR cameras, which we are. :)

I just caught him looking at me, while sitting in the window. Less than a second later he was off again - phew, I got really lucky with this shot, I think. ;P

They are siblings, and have a 'normal house cat' for a mum and either a Norwegian woods cat or a Maine Coon for a father. They are both over 5 kgs, and hopefully they'll grow even bigger. ;P

My Boyfriend And I In Edinburgh

This is my boyfriend.
He's sitting in a wonderful pub in Edinburgh, Scotland, called Jekyll & Hyde Pub. Very stylish, with dark furniture and odd glass jars everywhere.

We were in Edinburgh this February, and I'd just love to go back NOW! I must admit that I have a thing for Britain, and I'd like to spend a few of my years there! :)

Now this is I, also in Edinburgh.

The only thing that lacks is some more decent fabric stores. It seems that the Edinburgh people are not much for sewing. i don't know. I guess I weren't there long enough to really learn what was where. We found the goth shops though. ;P

Well - just another post to learn the blogger-thing.

The Spinning Top

Just seeing how this works. I've actually been an Amazon.com associate for a while, I just haven't gotten to the selling Amazon stuff yet. ;P Perhaps I can recommend stuff to you guys, when I find something really cool, and then it can only be a win win situation. I get paid a little and you get awesome stuff.

Graham Coxon's album, The Spinning Top is one of his best, I must admit. I have a very personal connection to it, because it has helped me out of a depression. I've been taking long walks while listening to his songs, and they've helped me feel happiness and warmth, when I was down.

I'm feeling a lot better now, thank you. :)

Graham Coxon

Graham Coxon is one of my biggest heroes. It's weird really, but it's true.

As I've mnentioned before, I come from Greenland, and you haven't got many opportunities there, unfortunately. But one time, in 1998, I think it was... or 1997... I don't remember.... a couple of years back, Blur came to Nuuk, the capital of Greenland to play a gig. I don't think I had ever been to a concert before in my life, and I was awestruck by these gorgeously British gentlemen, that I had to just own all their music and create an altar of posters at home (I was a teenager then, so it was ok... ;P).

And because of blur I wanted to play music myself, so I picked up the guitar and started practising - I've never become really good though, because I don't have the discipline to keep practising. But I started playing music, played a bit in a band or two, went to music school, and started studying music at the University in Aalborg, Denmark. I mean - it came from that time, where these four gentlemen came and visited Greenland. They planted a musical seed in me, which came a pretty long way, I must say. :)

It's a pity they're not really together any more, and it sort of bothers me that I didn't get to see them at one of their reunion gigs.... Luckily that Damon and Graham are still having a musical life, YAY! I am (hopefully) to see Gorillaz at Roskilde Festival this year! And I'm definitely hoping to see more of Graham Coxon when (if) he starts touring again.

Anyway... more blabber - it's really nice. I feel like I'm talking to a friend here, and I can just talk and talk and talk without my friend getting tired of me talking. In real life I'm a really quiet person, so I guess I just have a lot to say, when I finally have the chance. :) The good thing is, that you can just stop reading if you thinks it's boring - but I can just keep writing and writing and writing... Hooray for blogging!

Right - what I really wanted with this post was to share video - since I am completely and utterly in love with Graham and his music, I'd like to share one of his songs from his latest album: The Spinning Top' with you: In The Morning

Coin Purse Tutorial

I'll just try to make a couple of different posts here,to see how it works out. :) And to get a bit of content in place. Sometimes it just seems more interesting to work on something which is already running (when it comes to websites at least) - so I'll try to start this blog pretty quickly, and I can't guarantee it won't be a mess, so bear with me in my early attempt here. Thanks. :)

Anyways, I think I've made an ok tutorial for a coin purse at BeMyGoth.com, so I'll just share it here as well.

Press the picture, and it'll lead you to the tutorial - hope you enjoy it.

Wow, it's actually really nice to just have to worry about the content here - at BeMyGoth, it's all coding, because we've made it from scratch in notepad... This is genuinely user friendly. AWESOME! :)

First Entry

Right....
How many times have I not started here....?
Well, I think I just need a place where I can blabber all I want, and share my ideas with the world.

I've started a website some time ago with my boyfriend, and I think it's going pretty alright. It just needs some hard work to keep it going, and since it's a niche website, I don't feel like blabbering about things unrelated there, if you know what I mean.

It's a website which started out as a blog as well - a wordpress blog, and it was pretty much a mess, and in the beginning it was only me who managed it, and I didn't really know what I was writing about. But one day my boyfriend and I decided it should be a gothic tutorial website, and that it became. The website's called BeMyGoth.com, and I think we're doing a good job. We're not the best coding experts, but we're managing pretty well, I think.

Anyway - as it is a gothic related website, I couldn't bring myself to express all my girlyness on that website, so I had to find another forum to do that. So I think I'll try to stick with this one. I must admit that I've tried to create a couple of blogger blogs, and none have worked for me so far, but I suppose it's because of the reasons I started them. Some of them to check out how this "monetizing blogs" worked, and one for my mother. I live in Denmark, by the way, and my mother lives 4000 kilometers away in Greenland. So I thought it'd be a nice way to keep her updated - but I stopped after a while.

I guess I just need something which can hold my interest! Our website, BeMygoth.com does it pretty well, I think, because it's about being creative, and sewing stuff, which I very much like. And I love sharing my experience with others. But it's just a very narrow spectre, so I thought that perhaps I could share some of my none gothic things here... in this very non-gothic blog.

I could call this my girly blog. :) - I am a girl after all, and I do have girly tendencies!

We've just gotten a new camera, and a new sewing machine and a n overlocker, so the creativity is really flowing around the house - and I must admit, that at the moment I am really into colours, and my boyfriend is a full-blood goth, so he looks a bit odd at me sometimes - but it's alright - he loves me ;P

I'll just blabber, like I did just now, and probably post some pictures - perhaps of my creations, of my cats and other important things in my life. :)

Now let's see if this blog won't work out - I really hope so - cause then I'll have a forum where I can be as girly as I want to... which sometimes is a lot. ;P

Anyway... for now... wish me luck.
